X1 DVD Low Volume Fix
Thank you for your purchase of the WinBook X1 Notebook computer.
It has come to the attention of WinBook that some customers may experience
low audio output from the internal speakers of their WinBook X1 during
DVD playback. In the event you experience this, you can implement a simple
fix.
WinBook has identified this problem as an internal issue with the executable
file that launches Cyberlink PowerDVD version 3.0. (This is the licensed
software that has been included with your X1)
The issue itself lies within the PowerDVD.exe file. There is, within the
code, a volume limiter enabled that prevents normal audio output from
the internal speakers on the X1 during DVD playback.
WinBook and Cyberlink have developed a registry key that will correct
this issue and allow for higher volume output through the internal speakers.
This fix is very small (about 106 bytes), and should only take, literally,
a second or two to download.
WinBook Technical Support has made this easy fix available at the following
URL:
X1_dvd.reg
There are two options available for this file either, "Open
this file from its current location", or "Save this file to
disk".
- 1. Choose the default action, which is "Save this file to disk".
Click "OK"
- Save the file to the default location, this should be the Desktop.
The file name is X1_dvd.reg. (You may see a dialog box stating that
the download is complete, if so, please click the "Close"
button)
- Once this file is on your desktop, you can double-click it to enter
the key into the registry. You can also run this file by going to Start,
and then Run. In the Run line type C:\Windows\desktop\X1_dvd.reg, and
hit "OK".
- You should see a dialog box asking; "Are you sure you want to
add the information in C:\Windows\desktop\X1_dvd.reg to the registry?"
Click "Yes"
- You should now see a dialog box saying; "Information in the C:\Windows\desktop\X1_dvd.reg
has been successfully entered into the registry", click the "OK"
button.
Your Cyberlink PowerDVD software is now ready for use.
