The WinBook J1 computer can experience low audio output from the internal speakers during DVD Playback. WinBook MPS has identified the problem as an internal issue with the executable file that launches Cyberlink PowerDVD version 3.0. This is the licensed software that is issued with the J1 computer in the DVD configuration. The issue itself lies within the PowerDVD.exe file. There is, within the code, a volume limiter that is enabled, and this prevents normal audio output from the internal speakers on the J1. WinBook MPS and Cyberlink have developed a registry key that will correct this issue and allow for a higher volume output through the internal speakers. There is a registry fix obtainable at the following URL: http://www.winbookcorp.com/ftp/j1_dvd.reg (the filename is j1_dvd.reg) There are two options available for the file either, "Open this file from its current location", or "Save this file to disk"
This will place the information in the j1_dvd.reg key into the registry. This registry fix adds a dword value to this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cyberlink\PowerDVD The value that is added is "master volume control"=dword:000000xx This value sets a higher base volume for the PowerDVD software. Editing the registry can have unexpected results, so it is highly recommended that you back up the registry before making this change. Adjusting the dword value to a higher or lower setting can increase or decrease the base volume for DVD playback. You can adjust the dword value by opening the registry editor, and finding the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cyberlink\PowerDVD key. Double-click the "master volume control" entry and enter a numerical value in the highlighted box. |
