Follow the steps below to keep the Windows 98 Startup menu from appearing each time you start the computer:

  1. Locate and click the Start button. From the Start menu, point to Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, and then click System Information.
  2. From the Tools menu, click System Configuration Utility.
  3. Click the General tab at the top of the window, and then click the Advanced button.
  4. Make sure Enable Startup Menu is not selected. Then click OK.
  5. Click OK and then click Yes to restart the computer.
