In Windows 2000, you may find the highest available resolution in the Display Properties to be 1024 x 768, even though the video card can support higher resolutions.

Solution:

  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, click Control Panel and when it opens double-click on the Display icon.
  2. Click on the Settings tab at the top, then click on the button labeled Advanced.
  3. Click on the Monitor tab at the top, then uncheck the box beside Hide modes that this monitor cannot display by clicking on the check mark once.
  4. Click Apply and then click Close to close the Advanced Properties window.
  5. You should now be able to adjust the Screen Area to a setting above 1024 x 768.
  6. Click Apply and follow the on screen instructions to save the settings.
