General Information: The WinBook J1 Restore CD will install Windows XP Professional and all drivers as originally shipped.

Changing The Boot Sequence to allow booting from the Restore CD.

  1. As the computer is starting up, you will see the message Press F2 for Setup. Press the F2 key until you see the blue Setup Screen.
  2. Use the Right Arrow key to move to the Boot Menu (along the top of the screen).
  3. Use the Up and Down Arrow keys to highlight Hard Drive.
  4. Press the Minus (-) key to move Hard Drive to the bottom of the list.
  5. Press F10 to save changes. Yes will already be selected, so press Enter.

Restoring the Hard Disk Drive

  1. Open the CD-ROM drive and snap the Restore CD onto the drive spindle.
  2. Restart the unit and it will boot to the CD-ROM Drive.
  3. On the first screen click on the Continue button with your mouse.
  4. You will see a warning that reminds you all data on your hard will be destroyed, click Yes and the restore process will begin.
  5. You will be prompted to insert the second CD in the set, do that and click OK.
  6. When the restore has finished, you will see a message to reboot the computer. Remove the Restore CD from the drive and click the Reboot button. The computer will restart.
