Subject: Repairing a "Video Rendering Failure" on the N3 when using MGI SoftDVD Max Software in Windows XP

When trying to play a DVD on the N3 using MGI soft DVD, you get a "video rendering failure" error message.

MGI 6.0 will get a "video rendering failure" error if the video driver is not installed properly. If the video driver has been removed, it WILL NOT REINSTALL PROPERLY ON IT'S OWN!

The following instructions will aide you in fixing the problem:

1. Click Start, then Control Panel.
2. Double-click on the System Icon.
3. Left-Click Hardware, then click on the Device Manager Button.
4. Left-click the Plus next to Display Adapters.
5. Right-click on S3 Graphics Twister + S3Hotkey.
6. A small menu will appear. Select Update Driver and Press Enter.
7. A Hardware Update Wizard Opens. The wizard will ask you "What do you want to do?" Select Install from a list or specific location. Click Next.
8. Select Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install. Click Next.
9. Click the Have Disk button.
10. Click the Browse button
11. In the Look in selection make sure that your c: has appeared. There will be folders below in the larger window.
12. Double-click Drivers folder.
13. Double-click Video folder, then click the Open button.
14. The Install From Disk Window reappears. Click OK.
15. The Hardware Update Wizard reappears. Click Next.
16. The Wizard will install the driver and ask you to restart.
17. Click Finish.
18. You will get a message stating that System Settings Change, Do you want to restart your computer? Click Yes.
19. Once your restarts, click Start, then Control Panel.
20. Double-click Display, then Settings.
21. Select Medium (16 Bit) under Color Quality.
22. Click Apply, and then OK.
