The configuration of the wireless network on the WinBook J4 is going to be different depending on the type of access point that you are using to connect to your network. This is a basic guide to show how to get to the area's you will need to access in order to set up your network. Note: The wireless network card in the J4 is an 802.11b network card. It will not work with an 802.11a wireless access point / router. The first thing you are going to want to ensure is that your workgroup name is the same on this computer as it is on your other computers. To find out what your current workgroup is:
This will bring up the System Properties.
In this window, you can change you computer description. Once you click on the Change button it will bring up the Computer Name
Changed Button.
This will bring up the Computer Management console.
This will bring up the Properties of the Network Card. In the Accton WN3601a properties window, Left click on the tab that says Advanced. You will need to go through each of these settings and set them for the type of connection you are going to be using. The Main things that you will want to configure here are the AdHoc Demo mode, Authentication Algorithm, Fragmentation threshold, Listen interval, and RTS Threshold. ** Note ** When you are finished making changes here, click OK. At this point, your network card will start looking for available network connections. If it finds a connection, it will bring up an icon in the System tray. When you click on this Bubble, the next window that will appear is the Connect to Wireless Network box. Click on the Connect button to connect to the network that you have set up. Note: If you are using WEP, you will need to click the Advanced
button, and configure the Wireless network. |
