Configuring the WinBook

- Open the Display Properties. (Click with your right mouse button on
a clear spot on the Windows desktop and click on Properties at the bottom
of the menu - or click Start and then click on Control Panel and then
choose Display.
- Click on the Settings tab.
- Click on the Advanced button.
There are two different ways to proceed at this point: Clone Display
or Extended Display
"Clone" display: Having the same thing on the LCD and the External
Display
- Choose the ATI Displays tab.
- Click on the upper left corner to activate the external monitor (or
TV). It will be green when it is activated and red when it is recognized
but not activated NOTE: If the display says Not Connected, the computer
does not recognize the display as being connected to the computer. Check
to ensure it is connected and restart the computer.
- To adjust the properties of the monitor. Click on the title bar (Monitor
or Panel)
- To adjust the properties for the display, uncheck the Use DDC Information.
Adjust the Maximum Resolution and Maximum Refresh using the specifications
from the manufacturer if necessary.
- To Adjust the picture on the screen, click on the Adjustments tab,
and use the controls to adjust the Monitor Positioning and Screen Size
adjustments if needed.
- There is an Advanced tab to adjust synchronization. This should only
be done of the monitor manufacturer specifies that this should be adjusted.
- Click Apply and OK, when you have completed your adjustments.
Extended Display: "Stretching" the Display to Cover Two Monitors
- Open the Display Properties and click on the Settings tab. To turn
the display on right-click on the display and click on Attached on the
menu. This will turn on the display and enable the "Extend my Windows
desktop onto this monitor" option.
- Drag the second monitor to the position it is in relation to the
main monitor. (To the left, right, above or below). This will make a
difference in which direction the desktop is "extended. (If the monitor
is positioned left, drag the number 2 display on the Settings tab to
the left. When the mouse is moved to the left it will disappear off
the notebook LCD on the left and appear on the external monitor).
- To adjust the resolution on the secondary monitor, click in the display
labeled 2 and then adjust the screen setting resolution.
