1. Turn the computer on and allow it to fully boot into Windows XP.
2. Insert the software cd that came with the Pocket Dock. The cd may auto-run and bring up a Greeting or Welcome screen. Close that window out.
3. Now plug in the pocket dock's ac power connector and connect it to an ac power outlet. Make sure that the connection between the dock and the power cord is secure and in place.
4. Now connect the USB cable to the Pocket dock first. Once you have the connector on the Pocket Dock secure, plug the other end into the USB connector on the computer.
5. I will begin to detect new hardware, and you will see a small dialog balloon pop-up next to the time in the lower right hand corner.
6. It will continue detecting new hardware, and then you will see a New Hardware Wizard window appear. It will be searching for the drivers for the USB Serial Converter. Make sure that Install automatically is selected and then click on Next. It will then find a driver and be ready to install it. It may pop-up a window that says that the driver is not fully compatible. Click on Use it Anyway or Continue. It will then finish installing. Click on Finish.
7. It will still continue detecting new hardware, and then you will see a New Hardware Wizard window appear. It will be searching for the drivers for the USB Serial Port. Make sure that Install automatically is selected and then click on Next. It will then find a driver and be ready to install it. It may pop-up a window that says that the driver is not fully compatible. Click on Use it Anyway or Continue. It will then finish installing. Click on Finish.
8. It will then close the window. Wait for a few seconds and a new dialog balloon will pop-up and tell you that Windows has finished installing the new hardware and it is now ready to use. Close that window out. The pocket dock is now installed and should be ready to use.
