Running Backup Using the Backup Wizard

  1. Click on Start , Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Backup.
  2. The wizard box will open. Make sure the box is checked that says "Always Start in Wizard Mode". Click NEXT.
  3. Click on Back up Files and Settings.
  4. Click on NEXT.
  5. At the "What to Backup Up" screen Check the desired selection:
    • A. My documents and settings- Backs up My Documents, Favorites, Desktop, and Cookies.

    • B. Everyone's documents and settings: Includes every user's My Documents, Favorites, Desktop, and Cookies.


    • C. All information on this Computer: Backs up all data on the computer, creates a system recover disk that can be used to restore Windows in case of a major failure.

    • D. Let me choose what to backup: Let's the user selects what files they want to backup.

  6. Click NEXT.
  7. At the Backup Type, Destination, and Name click Browse if another place to save backup is desired. The floppy drive is the default setting.
  8. Click on the next box to enter a name for what you want to call the file.
  9. Click NEXT. (The options below are for advanced users for normal backup start with step #14)
  10. The next screen shows the settings. Use the ADVANCE button to change the type of backup. When done click NEXT.
  11. Next the options are given to verify data after backup, and disable volume shadow copy. Click NEXT.
  12. The next sets of options are to Append this backup to the existing backups or Replace the existing backups. Then click NEXT.
  13. The next option is when to run the backup. Now or Later. Click NEXT
  14. To begin the backup click FINISH.
  15. When finished the backup complete screen comes up giving information about the backup. Click either CLOSE or REPORT (Which will print out the information).
