  1. Before you do the following, you need to have the IrDA 2.0 drivers installed. If there is an Infrared icon in Control Panel, they are installed. If you do not have an infrared icon do the following. Otherwise, skip to step 11.
  2. Click on the Start button, go up to Settings, and over to Control Panel. Double click on Add New Hardware.
  3. Click Next and when Windows asks you if you want to search for new hardware, select No and click Next.
  4. For the Hardware types, select Infrared and click Next.
  5. Click Next again.
  6. For Manufacturers, select Standard infrared devices and for Models, select Built-in Infrared port on laptop or desktop and then click Next.
  7. Select Generic Ir Serial Port (Com3) for the physical port and click Next.
  8. Ensure that Infrared Serial (COM) port is set to COM4 and Infrared printer (LPT) port is set to LPT3 and click Next.
  9. Windows will now copy some files and find new hardware. Click Finish when prompted.
  10. Restart your computer.
  11. Click on the Start button, go up to Settings, and over to Printers.
  12. If your printer is already installed, Right click on the printer and click on Properties. Click on the Details tab and change the port to LPT3. If your printer is not already installed, Double click Add Printer. Follow through the Add Printer Wizard and when asked which port to use, choose LPT3.
