  1. Turn the unit on and start tapping the F2 keypad.
  2. Once into the Phoenix BIOS Setup go to the Advanced menu option.
  3. Press Enter at the Integrated Peripherals menu option.
  4. Make sure the following options are set correctly:
    • On-Board Sound Chip is Enabled

    • I/O Channel is set to 220H-22fH
    • MPU-401 I/O Address is set to 330H-331H
    • Interrupt is set to IRQ 5
    • Wave 2 Interrupt is set to 11
    • DMA Channel is set to DMA 1
    • Wave 2 DMA is set to DMA 5

    If any of these values are wrong use the + key to change them to the correct value.

  5. Press the Esc key two times and then press Enter to Save Changes & Exit. The unit will reboot into Windows 95.
  6. If you still do not have sound, click on the Start Button, Settings and then Control Panel. Double click on the System icon.
  7. In the System Properties, single click on the Device Manager.
  8. Click on the plus sign next to Sound, video and game controllers and then double click on the ESS 1888 Plug and Play AudioDrive device.
  9. Click on the Resources tab and verify the following:
    • Input/Output Range is 0220-0233

    • Input/Output Range is 0330-0331
    • Input/Output Range is 0388-038B
    • Interrupt Request is 05
    • Interrupt Request is 11
    • Direct Memory Access is 01
    • Direct Memory Access is 05

    If any of these values are wrong, remove the check mark in the Use automatic settings box. Double click on the wrong resource and use the up arrow button next to the Value box to change the resource to the correct value. Click on the OK button and change any other resource that is set wrong. Press OK to exit the ESS 1888 Plug and Play AudioDrive Properties

  10. From the Start menu, choose Shutdown, then choose Restart.
  11. If there is still no sound after rebooting, double click on the Speaker icon on the Taskbar. Mute all the volume controls and close the Speaker properties.
  12. Double click on the Speaker icon again on the Taskbar and un-mute all the mute boxes and close the speaker properties.
  13. If there is still no sound, call Technical Support for further help.
