NOTE: You, the customer, are solely responsible for data security. WinBook strongly recommends that you perform a backup of all personal data contained on your system prior to performing this procedure. Warning: WinBook will NOT be held responsible for any data loss incurred during this process.

WinBook is selling currently or has sold the following PCMCIA modems: Net Surfer v.34, Modem Blaster 28.8, v.34 Data/Fax 33.6, v.34 Proclass 33.6 Modem. To install any of the above in your WinBook XP5PRO do the following:

  1. Boot up the computer into Windows 95 normally.
  2. Insert modem card into the PCMCIA slot.
  3. Windows will prompt you that it has Found New Hardware. If not, make sure the PCMCIA card is all the way in the slot.
  4. Windows will then install the proper drivers. If you have formatted or reinstalled Windows 95, then you will be prompted to install a driver. Place the driver diskette that came with the PCMCIA Modem and select Driver provided by Hardware manufacturer.
  5. Your system will begin copying files.
  6. If your volume is up, you should hear two positive tones. This indicates that the modem card has been successfully detected.
  7. Your new modem is now functioning on COM3.
