If you would like to disable the logon password in Windows 95, you must first make sure that Windows Logon is set for your primary logon.

  1. Click on the Start button, go up to Settings, and over to Control Panel, then double click the Network icon; this will bring up the network window, with the configuration tab displayed. Under Primary Network Logon, Windows Logon should be selected. If Windows Logon is not selected, follow the Note below then continue from step 2. If Windows Logon is selected, click Cancel.
  2. Click on the Start button, go up to Settings, and over to Control Panel, double click on the Password icon, then click on the Change Windows Password button.
  3. Type your Old password and leave the New password and Confirm new password boxes blank then click OK.
  4. Select the User Profiles tab and make sure that "All users of this PC user the same preferences and desktop settings" is selected. When you restart the computer, you will no longer need to enter a password.

Note: If Windows Logon is not selected then select it and then click on OK. Windows will start copying files and may require that you insert a Windows 95 CD or disks. If Windows gives a Version Conflict message stating that "a file being copied is older than the file currently on your computer. Do you want to keep this file?" click Yes for each of these files.
