There are a number of Windows 95 components that can be added or removed. These range from additional multimedia components such as sound schemes to communications components such as Direct Cable Connection. You may add or remove them at any time.

Note: Some components may require other components to be installed. For example to install Microsoft Fax you must also install Windows Messaging and WordPad.

If you received Windows 95 on diskette and have formatted and reinstalled, there are some items that are not available following the procedures below. These additional items may be downloaded from Microsoft’s website free of charge at http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/info/cdextras.htm, or by FTP at ftp://ftp.microsoft.com in the folder softlib/mslfiles. They may also be ordered on diskette from Microsoft.
