PROBLEM: When plugging a Serial Device into the Serial Port, an error occurs that the Port is not working correctly even though a serial mouse will actually work correctly on the port. SOLUTION: There are two ways to fix the problem. Follow one of the following procedures to resolve the issue. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double Click on the Accessibility
icon. Click on the General Tab. Remove the check from Support SerialKey
Devices. Click OK. Close out of the Control Panel. Restart your computer.
or Click on Start, and choose Run. Backspace out anything written in the
box. Type in "MSCONFIG" without the quotes. Click on OK, or
press Enter. Once the System Configuration Utility opens, click on the
System.ini tab. Click the + sign next to 386Enh. Remove the check next
to device=*enable. Click Apply. Click Ok. Choose Yes to restart. |
