When Norton Anti-virus is installed on the XL, and the user uses the Suspend function, when it is almost back on to the Windows Desktop, it will reboot the system again. We will need to edit the Autoexec.bat file.
In the "AUTOEXEC.BAT" file you will see one or more lines that reference Norton Anti-Virus. An example is, "@C:\PROGRA~1\NORTON~1\NAVBOOT.EXE /STARTUP". Using the "REM" is called a remark. We remarked the file so that it will not operate. You must restart the unit to allow for the changes to be effective. Once that is done, the unit shouldnt restart after a Suspend function has been used. Note: This will cause some functions of Norton Anti-Virus to stop working. This will affect MS-DOS more than Windows. If you need to work around this to allow these items of the program to function, you must contact Symantec for a possible work around or not use the suspend features of the XL. |
