  1. Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, then Accessibility Wizard.
  2. This will bring up a wizard to walk you through setting up video and audio options.
  3. The first option is larger text. There will be three options available: normal, large, and extra large. Click on the text size you would like to display and then click on Next.
  4. The next step will allow you to decide whether you would like to use both large text and the magnifying feature. If you wish to use both then place a check mark in both check boxes. You can choose whatever combination you like. The magnifying feature is also accessible on its own at any time by clicking on Start, Programs, Accessories, then Magnifier.
  5. The next step will allow you to check any of four statements.
  1. The first statement is I am blind or have difficulty seeing things on screen. If this is correct then place a check in the box by clicking on it once.
  2. The second statement is I am deaf or have difficulty hearing sounds from the computer. If this is correct then place a check in the box by clicking on it once.
  3. The third statement is I have difficulty using the keyboard or mouse. If this is correct then place a check in the box by clicking on it once.
  4. The forth option will allow you to set up administrative features. This is convenient if you have other users for this computer. If you check this you will need to set up your preferred settings each time you turn the computer on since it designates a set amount of time in which the computer returns back to the default settings after sitting idle (not in use).
  1. When you click on Next the following screens you will see will depend upon which options you selected. Follow the instructions below based upon the options you have selected. If you have selected multiple boxes the options will appear in the order listed. After all of the instructions for the options you have selected have been followed, continue with the section titled Completing the Wizard in this WinBook Tech Article.
  2. Visual Settings:

  3. If you put a check mark in the first box the next screen will ask you to select the size of the scroll bars that appear in the programs you run. There will be four choices, click on the one that is most comfortable for your viewing and click on Next.
  4. The next option will be the size of your icons. There will be three sizes to choose from, click on the one that is most comfortable for your viewing and then click on Next.

Difficulty Using Keyboard or Mouse:

  1. If you put a check mark in the third box the next screen will ask you if you would like to press keys in a combination one at a time instead of having to do multiple keys at the same time (such as Ctrl-Alt-Del or Alt-F4). If you would like to use this feature then click on Yes. Then Click on Next.
  2. The next screen will ask you if you would like to enable BounceKeys, this feature is great for people with shaky hands and helps prevent multiple presses on the same key accidentally. If you would like to use this feature then click on Yes. Click on Next.
  3. The next screen will ask if you would like to hear a warning sound if you accidentally hit the Caps Lock, Num Lock, or Scroll Lock keys. If you would like to use this feature then click on Yes. Click on Next.
  4. The next screen will ask you if you would like keyboard help when it's available if you do not use a mouse or have difficulty using a mouse. If you would like to use this then click on Yes. Click on Next.
  5. The next screen will ask you if you would like to use the keyboard to navigate instead of a mouse. This option will only work well if you are using an external keyboard with a numeric keypad on it. If you would like to use this option click on Yes. Click on Next.
  6. The next screen will allow you to select what size and color cursor you would like to use. Click on the size and color you would like to use and then click on Next.
  7. The next option allows you to set up the mouse for either right or left handed use, if you are left handed or intend to use the mouse with your left hand click on Yes. Click on Next.
  8. The next screen will allow you to set the speed at which your cursor moves. Default is in the middle, you can move the slider closer to slower if you have problems positioning your cursor on objects. Click on Next.
  9. The next screen will ask you if you would like to enable mouse trails, this will cause a little ghost trail of the cursor when you move it making it easier to locate the mouse. If you would like this option click on Yes. Click on next.

Completing the Wizard:

The wizard will show you what features you have changed or updated. Click on Finish and all of your settings should be changed to the options you selected while in the wizard.
