To Install the 32-bit DLC Protocol

  1. Open the Network dialog box.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Click Protocol, and then click Add.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Notes

  • You can open the Network dialog box by clicking Start, pointing to Settings, clicking Control Panel, and double-clicking Network.
  • You can also install DLC32 from your Windows 98 setup disk. During setup, you are prompted for files located on the disk. When you are prompted for your Windows 98 setup disk, you must specify the folder on the setup disk that contains the Windows 98 cabinet (.cab) files.
  • Windows 98 setup removes any previous configuration settings for the 16-bit Microsoft DLC and adds an entry in the Autoexec.bat file for Dlchlp.exe, the file that supports 16-bit DLC programs. If no 16-bit DLC programs are used, you can save real mode memory as well as 32-bit DLC protect mode memory by disabling 16-bit support.
