  1. Turn the unit on.
  2. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel and double click on the System icon.
  3. On the System Properties window select the Device Manager tab.
  4. Click on the plus sign next to PCMCIA Socket.
  5. There should be 2 Texas Instruments PCI-1131 CardBus Controllers – make sure that there aren't any yellow exclamation points or red Xs on these.
  1. If there is an exclamation point on these go up to Hard Disk Controllers and click on the plus sign. There should be an Intel Controller and a Primary IDE Controller, double click on the Intel controller and then select the Settings tab. The setting for the Dual IDE Channel Setting should be set for "Only Primary IDE Channel Enabled". If it is not then changed it.
  2. If there is a red X on these then double click on the top Texas Instrument controller. At the bottom of the General tab it will have a checkmark next to "Disable in this hardware profile". Remove this checkmark and click OK.

This will bring up the PC Card (PCMCIA) wizard. NO should be selected. Click next. Again no should be selected. Click next and then finish. Windows will ask you to reboot. Click yes. The system will power off. The socket is now enabled.

( If a problem persists with the socket you will need to contact WinBook Tech Support)

  1. Insert the card into the PCMCIA slot (either top or bottom).
  2. A dialog box will appear that windows has found new hardware and is installing the drivers.
  3. Another dialog box will appear that windows is installing a SCSI Host Adapter.
  4. Once these boxes disappear the SCSI card is installed ready to be attached to the external SCSI device.
