General Information: This WinBook Tech Article is only for the 33.6 Performance modem that we sell. Other PCMCIA modems might require different software in order to run properly. The packaging of the Performance modem come with 1 PCMICA modem card, 1 PCMCIA cable phone line adapter, 1 line coupler, an installation disk and users manual. All that we will need for installation is the PCMCIA card itself.

  1. Start with the computer turned off. Locate the PCMCIA sockets on the back left side of the computer. Slide the modem into a free PCMCIA socket.
  2. Turn the computer on. When Windows loads it will tell you that it has found new hardware and begin the Update Device Driver Wizard. Click on the next button.
  3. Windows will then search your local drives for current drivers. After the search it will tell you that it found the following updated driver, Standard PCMCIA modem card.
  4. Click on finish to use this driver.
  5. Connect the phone line adapter to PCMCIA card.
  6. Locate a free phone line. Attach the phone line to one end of the coupler. Attach the other end of the coupler to the PCMCIA adapter.
  7. Your modem should now be setup for use.
