  1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
  2. Open add new hardware and click Next.
  3. Do not allow windows to search for new hardware.
  4. Specify a sound video and game controller option.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Select Have Disk.
  7. Insert the Audio and Video Drivers Disk
  8. Browse to a:\audio
  9. Select ESS ES1688 Plug N Play Audio Drive
  10. Click on Finish. Restart the computer when prompted.
  11. Hold down the ALT key and double click on "My Computer"
  12. Now click on the Device Manager tab
  13. Click once on the sound card with the yellow "!" on it and then click the "Remove" button
  14. Click "Yes" to remove from all configurations
