If your USB device is not working on all of the ports on your unit it is possible that the problem is an incompletely installed device driver. It is important to realize that each USB port connection is isolated from the others and there will be a separate driver for each, making it possible for the USB device to operate correctly on one port but fail to operate on another.

The following procedure may assist in resolving any problems stemming from an incompletely installed driver.

  1. Attach the USB Device to the port where it is not functioning correctly.
  2. Click on START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL. Double Click on SYSTEM and select the Device Manager tab.
  3. Look for your USB device in the list in Device Manager. It will probably have a Yellow circle with an Exclamation in it near the icon for the USB device
  4. Single click on the USB device name to highlight it. Click on the REMOVE button at the bottom. You will be given a message box that says "Warning: You are about to remove this device from your system." Click on OK. Close Device Manager.
  5. Unplug the USB device and then reconnect it to the same USB port. The system should bring up the New Hardware Detected window and proceed to prompt you for the installation drivers for the USB Device. Follow through the process, referring to your USB Device manual for any specific installation selections or configuration.

In most cases this will reinstall the USB device properly and will allow it to operate correctly regardless of which USB port is used. If more trouble persists, contact your USB Device support or WinBook Technical Support for additional assistance
