PC Card Laptop Requirements
Before installing the Intel® PRO/Wireless 2011 PC card, check your
laptop computer for the following required minimum configuration requirements:
- A computer with a Type II PC card slot.
- A CD-Rom drive.
Windows 2000 Installation for the Intel® PRO/Wireless Windows driver:
- Obtain The correct Windows installation media
- Verify the PRO/Wireless 2011 PC Card is installed
- Obtain the PRO/Wireless Windows driver installation CD
Intel recommends updating the PRO/Wireless 2011 PC Card to the latest
firmware. Use the WLAN Update utility to update the firmware. Refer to
the Wireless LAN Utilities User's Guide included in the installation CD
for instructions on using WLAN Update. To download the latest firmware,
go to: http://support.intel.com
General PC Card Installation
Installation and removal methods vary for different laptop computers.
Refer to your owner's manual for specific instructions.
To install the PC Card:
- Start your computer.
- Insert the PC card in the laptops PCMCIA socket
- Align and Slide the PC card until it firmly seats. When fully inserted
the PC Card antenna and LED will be the only thing showing from the
socket.
Installing the Software for Your Intel PRO/Wireless 2011 LAN PC Card
- Insert the CD for Intel PRO/Wireless 2011 LAN PC card into your CD-ROM
drive.
- This CD has an auto run feature and will open a window to explain
some of the features of your wireless PC Card. (Shown Below)

- Minimize this window. Once you minimize the above window you will
see "Add New Hardware Wizard" window

- When the Found New Hardware dialog box displays, Click Next.

- Select the Search for a suitable driver for my device button. Click
Next.

- Specify the location of the Intel driver files. Click Next.

- Click Next when a message displays stating Windows has found the
required device.

- A progress bar displays showing the progress of the driver file downloading.
When the driver is download is complete, Click Next.
NOTE: The Microsoft Digital Signature Not Found dialog box could appear
at this point of installation. A Microsoft digital signature is required
for the driver installation. Click Yes to continue with the driver installation.
- Enter the default network ESSID (101), (without the parentheses),
or your network ESSID in the Intel Easy Setup window. Click OK.

- The Found New Hardware dialog box displays again stating that Windows
has finished installing the software required for this device. Click
OK.
- Restart the computer when prompted by Windows 2000.
Installing the PRO/Wireless 2011 LAN PC card Utility.
- Once your computer has restarted, Click Start, then Run.

- In the run dialog box Type D:\, Click Browse.

- Double-Click on the Utilities Folder.

- Select Setup.exe, Press Open.
- The Run window will come back into view with the path and file in
the box. Click OK.

- The Welcome screen appears, Click Next.

- Click Yes, for the Software License Agreement.

- Fill in the Name and Company boxes, Click Next

- Verify the destination location, Click Next.

- Select Typical, Click Next

- Select Accessories, Click Next.
- Enter the default network ESSID (101) or your network ESSID in the
Wireless LAN Profile Wizard-ESSID. Click Next.
By clicking next the Utility program will copy to your hard drive.

- Hear you have the option to view the Read Me file. If you do, just
keep the check in the box and Click Finish; otherwise remove the check
in the Box, Click Finish.

- Click OK, to restart your computer. After you computer is restarted,
you will find the icon for the Utility program in "My Computer".
- To put the icon on the desktop, Right Click on the Utility Icon.
- On the menu Left Click Shortcut.

- Click Yes, to add the shortcut icon to the Desktop. The icon is now
on your desktop.
To configure your PC Card, use your Quick Installation Guide that came
with the device.
