  1. Turn off you computer.
  2. Attach you monitor to the monitor adapter on the back of your system.
  3. Restart the system and the computer will detect a new monitor type (usually two identical monitors).
  4. Click Start | Settings | Control Panel.
  5. Double-click the Display icon.
  6. Click Settings. You will see two monitors listed that are identical. Monitor 1. should be the laptop monitor using the ATI 3D Rage LT Pro drivers. Monitor 2. is your external monitor.
  7. Select monitor 1.
  8. Click Advanced.
  9. Select the Monitor tab.
  10. Click the Change button.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Select Display a list of all drivers.
  13. Click Show all hardware.
  14. Select Standard Monitor type and Laptop Display 1024 x 768.
  15. Click Next, Next, and Finish.
  16. Click Apply and then OK.
  17. The system will restart.

To setup and test the dual monitor mode:

  1. Click Start | Setting | Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Display icon.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Click on monitor 2.
  5. Check the Extend my Windows desktop display onto this monitor box.
  6. Click Apply and then OK.

To adjust the desktop color and resolution so that both monitors are identical:

  1. Right-click on monitor 1. and select Identity from the menu. A number "1" will appear on the LCD (laptop) monitor.
  2. Repeat steps 1-2 for the external monitor 2.
  3. Select monitor 2. and adjust the Colors and Screen area to match monitor 1.
  4. Usually, both will be High Color (16 bit) and at 1024 x 768 pixels resolution. Both monitor icons in the Display Properties Settings window should become equal in size.
  5. When the monitor icons match, click Apply, Yes, and then OK.
