Note: WinBook does not support Microsoft Fax under Windows 98 Second Edition.  The following is to aid in you installing and running MS-Fax under Windows 98 Second Edition.  If you are having problems with Microsoft Fax working under Windows 98 Second Edition, then it is recommended that you contact Microsoft for further assistance.

Installing MS-Fax:

In order to use Microsoft Fax you must be running Windows Messaging, Outlook or Exchange Client. If you do not have any of these, then use the following instructions to add Windows Messaging:

1. Place the Windows 98 CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
2. Right Click on the CD-ROM on click on the open.
3. Double click on tools.
4. Double click on oldwin95.
5. Double click on message.
6. Double click on us.
7. Double click on wms to install windows messaging.

Then if you have Windows Messaging, Outlook 97, or Exchange Client installed on your unit, you are ready to install MS-Fax.

8. Repeat steps 1 through 6
9. Double click on awfax to install MS-Fax.
10. The computer will prompt you to restart the computer. Click yes.
11. Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, Fax, Compose new fax to run the setup wizard for MS-Fax
12. After the wizard has been run, you are ready to send faxes.

Next, the Windows 98 Second Edition Fax Update needs to be applied.  Without these steps taken, MS Fax is not going to work.  Click here to download the Fax Update. Once completed, MS Fax will become functional.
