Uninstall Alps Software
- Click on Start, Settings, Control Panels. Open System and click on
the Device Manager Tab..
- Click on the Plus (+) Sign next to Mouse and highlight Alps
Glide Point. Click the Remove button. You will recieve a message
"You are about to remove this device from you system." Click
Ok. Shutdown the computer.
Disable Internal Pointing Devices.
- Note: Using a PS/2 Intellimouse requires disabling both the Touchpad
and the Trackpoint. If you have a Serial or USB mouse, this is probably
not necessary and you should skip this step.
- When the computer is starting, you will see "Press F2 For Setup."
Hold down the F2 key until you see the Blue PhoenixBIOS Setup
Utility.
- Using the right arrow key, highlight Advanced across the top of the
screen. Using the Up and Down Arrow Keys, highlight "Internal PS/2
Device:" Press the Space bar until this says Disabled.
- Press F10. Make sure Yes is highlighted and press Enter. The computer
will restart. Windows will detect and install a PS/2 Compatible
Mouse Port. When it is finished, shutdown the computer and plug in your
Intellimouse.
- After this step, the Touchpad will not function if there is a PS/2
mouse connected.
Run Intellipoint Setup
- If you have the Intellipoint CD, open My Computer, double-click on
the D Drive, and choose "Install Intellipoint Software" from
the menu.
- If you downloaded the software from the Internet, follow the instructions
that came with the software you downloaded.
- The Microsoft Intellipoint Software Setup will run, click Next. You
will be asked to select your county. Select the appropriate Country/Region
and click Next. Select the Mouse Type you have, then click Next.
- You will be presented a License Agreement. Select I Accept and click
Next. Enter Name and Organization Information, then click Next.
- Select Install Folder. It is recommend that you choose the default
folder listed. Click Next. Setup will ask you to verify Settings, click
Next.
- Registration Wizard will open. If you choose not to register, click
the Register Later button.
- When you are asked to restart the computer, select Yes and click Finish.
