Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is a new feature included with Windows 98 second edition. ICS allows multiple computers on a network to connect to the Internet by using one Internet connection. To set up ICS on your computer, please follow the below steps. WinBook Technical Support does NOT support Internet Connection Sharing. This WinBook Tech Article is provided to you, the customer, so that you can take advantage of this new feature. You will need the following things to complete this WinBook Tech Article:
Installing Internet Connection Sharing Applet 1. Turn the unit on and boot into windows
98. Note: Run the Internet Connection Sharing wizard only on the computer your network uses to connect to the Internet. 12. Click Next and a box will appear with
a list of network adapters that you use to connect your computer to the
Internet. (i.e. dial up adapter) Setting up a client computer to use Internet Connection Sharing 1. Insert the client configuration disk that you created with the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard. Note: Make sure your client computer has Windows 95 or Windows 98 installed and has either Microsoft® Internet Explorer 3.x or later installed or Netscape® Navigator 3.x or later installed. 2. Click on the Start button and then click
on Run. Note: Make sure that the computer on your network that you use to connect to the Internet is turned on and already connected to the Internet before you configure your client computer. 4. A Browser Connection Setup Wizard will
now be on your screen. If you experience problems using Internet Connection Sharing, or wish to learn more on the setup process, please print out and read the readme.txt located on the client configuration disk. |
