- With the unit turned on and at the desktop, insert
the Livewire card into either slot. The system will bring up a window
stating it found the Livewire Ethernet LAN (Windows 95) card
and proceed to install the drivers for it.
- If, while copying, it says it cannot find NETNMC.INF
and asks you for the location, in copy files from: type C:\DRIVERS\PCMCIA
and press ENTER. It will proceed through the last of the installation
and you may hear the double tone indicating the card was found and recognized.
- Restart your computer by clicking on START,
SHUTDOWN and select RESTART THE COMPUTER and click on
YES.
- As the unit reboots, press and hold the CTRL
key down until you see the Microsoft Windows 98 Startup Menu appear
and give you a list of numbered choices. Press the 3 key for
Windows Safe Mode and press ENTER.
- Once you are in Safe Mode, you will be given a
window stating this is a special diagnostic mode. Click OK. Go to START,
SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL. Double Click on SYSTEM
and click on the DEVICE MANAGER Tab.
- Click on the + next to NETWORK ADAPTERS
to expand the category. Double Click on the LIVEWIRE ETHERNET LAN
(Windows 95) driver to bring up the properties. Click on the RESOURCES
Tab.
- Click on SET CONFIGURATION MANUALLY. Remove
the Check mark from USE AUTOMATIC SETTINGS.
- Double Click on the word Input/Output Range.
This will bring up an edit window with the value of 0000-001F displayed.
Use the up arrow on your keyboard to raise that value until it reads
0340-035F and click on OK. Double click on the word Interrupt
Request. It will bring up an edit window with the value of 00 displayed.
Use the up arrow on your keyboard to raise the value until it reads
10. Click on OK. Click on OK at the bottom of the
window.
- You will be given a prompt that you are creating
a forced configuration and that Windows 98 will no longer be able to
adjust the settings for the card. Click on YES to accept the
settings you have just made. It will tell you to restart the computer
for the settings to take effect. Click on YES.
- When the system restarts it will bring you up into
Windows Normal mode. You will hear two tones on boot up that indicate
the Livewire card is now set up properly. Once at the desktop, you may
proceed to set up your network configuration as needed.
