GENERAL INFORMATION: The steps in this WinBook Tech Article are intended to set the computer's software back to factory shipped conditions. These steps only apply to computers that shipped with Win98. These steps do not apply to computers that shipped with Win95.

WARNING! Restoring your hard drive will delete all data and software currently contained on the computer. If there is valuable data that is currently on your drive do not proceed with the following steps. Doing so will result in loss of all information currently contained on your hard drive.

In order to proceed you will need the following items.

  1. The WinBook XLi restore CD.
  2. Your Win98 certificate of authenticity.
  3. Contact WinBook Tech Support at 1-800-468-1225 in order to obtain the restore CD password.

WARNING! Do not proceed until you have all the above items. You will not need to be able to complete the install until you have all the items.

  1. Insert your WinBook XLi restore CD in to the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. At the main menu press the 3 key to install the WinBook XLi master.
  4. Press the spacebar to continue past the warning message.
  5. Enter the password that you received from WinBook Tech Support.
  6. Click on the RESTORE button.
  7. Click on the YES button.
  8. This will begin the process of copying WIN98 to your hard drive.
  9. Once the image has been transferred to your computer it will prompt you to hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE to continue. Remove the restore CD from your computer and then hold down the power button until your computer shuts down.
  10. Restart your system. When Win98 loads input your registration information and Window product ID number.
  11. Windows is now ready for you to install your software.
