The following information is specific when upgrading to Windows 98 the Infrared Monitor reports "Can not find infrared DLL entry point" and the Infrared PnP Serial Port (*PNP0510) shows a conflict. You must have upgraded the BIOS to XL 1.04.

  1. Click on Start, Settings and then Control Panel.
  2. Double click on the System icon.
  3. Click on the Device Manager tab.
  4. Double click on the device labeled Infrared PnP Serial Port (*PNP0510)
  5. Click on the Resource tab.
  6. Click on Set Configuration Manually button then take the check mark out of Use Automatic Settings.
  7. Change the Basic Configuration to Basic Configuration 002.
  8. Make sure to match the resources to this: Input/Output 03E8-03EF, Interrupt Request 04 and Direct Memory Access 03. To change the resource setting of either the Interrupt Request or Direct Memory Access double click on the line and change the value appropriately. There should be no extra conflicts except with Interrupt Request 04 being used by Com1 - this is normal for the WinBook XL.
  9. Click on OK, click on Yes on forcing the configuration change and then click on OK to close out the System Properties dialog box.

You will need to restart the unit and to make the changes take effect.
