Deltree Windows 95 and Reinstall
on the WinBook LM

data contained on your system prior to performing this procedure. Warning:
WinBook will NOT be held responsible for any data loss incurred during
this process.

You will need the following things to install on this
machine:
Deleting Windows:
- Got to Start, Shutdown, and have the computer restart in MS-Dos Mode.
- Type CD\ and press ENTER.
- Type copy c:\windows\command\deltree
and press Enter.
- Type deltree windows and press
enter and then Y. This will take several minutes.
- Power off the WinBook LM.
- Remove any and all external devices from
the computer.
- Insert the floppy disk module into the
expansion bay.
- Insert the Win95 Boot Disk for the WinBook
LM.
- Power on the computer.
- At the A: type 10 to REINSTALL
WINDOWS 95
- Please wait while files are being copied
to you hard drive
- After the files have been copied to your
hard drive you will be prompted to power the system off and remove the
floppy drive and insert the CD-ROM module. Do so at this time.
Install Windows 95 operating system:
- Power up the system and insert the Microsoft
Windows 95 CD and wait approximately 20-30 seconds to allow the CD-ROM
drive to spin up.
- Type D:\setup and press ENTER;
this will copy files needed for the installation to your hard drive
(this will take a few minutes). Press ENTER when complete.
- Windows 95 installation will now begin.
When asked, select "Typical" from the options given.
- Enter the Product ID and your name when
prompted.
- Click next on the screen where it asks
you for what Windows Components you want to install.
- Choose No, I do not want a startup disk
when asked.
- Click on Next again and then wait for
the percentile bar to get to 100%.
- The computer will restart and ask you
to wait again.
- Eventually it will ask you for your time
zone. Pick the appropriate one for your location.
- It will then ask you to set up a printer.
This is your option, either set one up or cancel depending on your circumstances.
- After this, the computer will restart
again.
- Windows 95 is now installed.
Install Video drivers
- Right click on the Windows 95 Desktop
- Click on "Properties" from the
menu
- Click on the "Settings" tab
- Select the "Advanced Properties"
button
- Select the "Change" button
- Select the "Have Disk" button
- Insert the support diskette into drive
a:
- On the "Copy manufacturer's files
from:" type in a:\vga
- Select the "OK" button
- Highlight NeoMagic MagicGraph 128 PCI
then select "OK"
- Select the "Monitor" tab
- Select the "Change" button
- Under Models: select "Laptop Display
Panel (800x600)"
- Select the "OK" button
- Select the "Close" button on
Advanced Display Properties
- Select "OK" when the message
screen appears
- Select "OK" when the message
screen appears
- Select the "Close" button on
Display Properties
- Select "Yes" to restart your
system
Install Sound card drivers:
- Go to the Start and Settings.
- Then click on "Control Panel"
- Double click on "Add New Hardware"
- Select the "Next" button
- Click on "No" for search for
new hardware
- Select the "Next" button
- Scroll down the list and double click
on "Sound, video and game controllers"
- Select the "Have Disk" button
- Insert the WinBook LM Driver disk into
drive a:
- On the "Copy manufacturer's files
from:" type in a:\audio
- Select the "OK" button
- Click on the "ESS ES1688 Plug and
Play AudioDrive"
- Select the "OK" button
- Select the "Finish" button on
the "Add New Hardware Wizard"
- Remove the floppy disk from your disk
drive
- Select "Yes" the restart computer
now
- After the reboot close all the windows
on your screen
- Hold down the ALT key and double click
on "My Computer"
- Click on the "Device Manager"
tab
- Remove the "ESS ES1688 Plug and Play
AudioDrive" entry that is preceded by the exclamation point by
highlighting the entry and clicking 'Remove'
Enable PCMCIA support:
- Hold down the ALT key and double click
on the "My Computer" icon
- Click on the "Device Manager"
tab
- You should see a "X" through
the icon next to "Cirrus Logic PCIC compatible PCI to PCMCIA bridge"
- Double click on "Cirrus Logic PCIC
compatible PCI to PCMCIA bridge"
- Click on the "Disable in this hardware
profile", This should remove the check mark
- Click on 'OK'
- Select the "Next" icon from
the "Welcome to the PC Card (PCMCIA) Wizard" screen
- Select the "Next" icon from
the "PC Card (PCMCIA) Wizard" screen
- Select the "Finish" button
- Select the "Yes" button to shut
down your system now
- Turn on your system
- Copy the file "socketsv.vxd"
from the C:\DRIVERS\PCMCIA folder to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. It
should be 21kb after being copied.
- Restart the computer again to fully enable
PC Card support for your WinBook LM.
