Subject: How to extract MSMOUSE.INF to the Windows 95 INF directory from the Windows 95 CD-ROM on a WinBook XL

  1. From the Start menu, choose Run...
  2. Place your Windows 95 CD in your CD-ROM drive.
  3. In the Open: box, type in D:\WIN95\EXTRACT /L C:\WINDOWS\INF PRECOPY2.CAB MSMOUSE.INF.
  4. A DOS window will then open, and the MSMOUSE.INF file will be extracted into the INF directory on your hard drive.
  5. When it is finished extracting, it will say Finished – extract at the top of the window.
  6. You can then close the window.
  7. From the start menu, choose shutdown.
  8. In the Shut Down Windows window, choose Restart, then click OK.
  9. Windows will then restart, using the new MSMOUSE.INF file.
  10. Your mouse should be detected correctly now.
