Materials Needed:

  • The WinBook Audio Video Driver disk

Directions:

  1. Click on the "Start" button.
  2. Select "Settings" from the menu.
  3. Select "Control Panel" from the Menu.
  4. Double Click on the "System" icon.
  5. Choose the Device Manager tab.
  6. Double click on the Display adapters.
  7. Double Click on Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA).
  8. Select the Driver tab and click on the Update Driver Button.
  9. Put the WinBook Audio Video Driver disk in the floppy disk drive and click Next.
  10. Click the Other Locations button and type "a:\ct65550" in the Location box and click OK and then click Finish.
  11. When prompted to insert disk labeled ‘Chips and Technologies Windows 95 Driver Disk’ click OK
  12. Enter "a:\ct65550" in the "Copy files from:" box, when prompted for the location of the "chips.drv" file, and click OK.
  13. Remove the floppy disk from the drive and click Yes to restart computer
  14. Once the computer has rebooted, right click on a clear area of the desk top and choose Properties from the menu.
  15. Choose the Settings tab.
  16. Under Desktop area, click on the pointer and press the right arrow key once to move it to 800x600 and click Apply.
  17. Press ENTER to specify what type of monitor you have. The standard monitor type Laptop Display Panel (1024x768) should already be selected. Press ENTER.
  18. You will receive warning that Windows is going to adjust your display settings. Press ENTER and then click the Yes button to keep the settings.
  19. Under Color palette click the arrow to the right of 256 Color. Select High Color (16 bit) and click Apply.
  20. Choose "Apply setting without restarting?" and click OK and press ENTER so Windows will readjust your display settings and click Yes to keep the changes.
  21. Click OK on the Display Properties Box to close it.
