To complete this procedure you will need
the following materials.
- WinBook Windows 95 Boot Disk ver. 2.40
- Microsoft Windows 95 CD
- Microsoft Windows 95 users manual with
Product ID
- Choose the Start button, Shutdown
and Restart in Ms-DOS Mode Option.
- At the DOS prompt Type CD\ and
push the Enter key.
- Type copy c:\windows\command\deltree.exe
and press enter.
- Then Type Deltree C:\Windows and press the Enter.
- The unit will ask do
you want to Delete Windows and all its sub directories Yes/NO Type
Y for yes. After the unit returns to a Command Prompt C:\>.
- Turn off your computer.
Insert your floppy disk drive.
- Insert the disk
labeled WinBook Windows 95 Boot Disk ver. 2.40 and turn on your
computer.
- At the menu choose
option number 11.
- This will reinstall Windows
95.
Set display properties:
- Choose the Start button,
then Settings, next Control Panel.
- Open Display.
- Select the Settings
tab
- Change the Screen Area
from 640X480 to 800X600 (the Desktop Area will
automatically be changed to 800X600)
- Click the Apply
button
- When asked to change the
monitor type click the Yes button
- Under Models find
the Laptop Display Panel (800X600) entry
- Click the OK button
- Click OK again
- Select OK again
to keep the new settings.
- Finally click on the OK
button to close the display properties
Install WinBook Modem Driver:
- Insert the Support
Disk into drive A:
- Click the Start
button
- Select Run from
the menu
- In the Open text
box type A:\10.bat and click OK
- A MS-DOS window will be
opened and 10.bat will run. When completed you will see the WinBook
Utility menu. Close the window when you see the menu
- Right click on the My
Computer icon
- Select Properties
from the menu
- Look for the Modem
icon and click the + sign next to it
- Double click on 28.8
Modem
- Select the Driver
tab
- Click the Update Driver
button
- Select No, select from
a list and click Next
- Highlight the Modem
entry and click Next
- Under manufacturers locate
WinBook Computer Corp (NOT WinBook)
- Highlight WinBook v.34
under Models and click Finish
- Click the Close
button to close modem properties
- Click Close again
to close system properties
Enable PCMCIA support:
- Right click on the My
Computer icon
- Click on Properties
from the menu
- Click on the Device
Manager tab
- You should see a X
through the icon next to Cirrus Logic PCIC compatible PCI to PCMCIA
bridge
- Double click on Cirrus
Logic PCIC compatible PCI to PCMCIA bridge
- Click on the Disable
in this hardware profile, This should remove the check mark
- Click on OK
- Select the Next icon
from the Welcome to the PC Card (PCMCIA) Wizard screen
- Select the Next
icon from the PC Card (PCMCIA) Wizard screen
- Select the Finish
button
- Select the Yes
button to shut down your system now
- Turn on your system
