When installing Windows 95 from diskettes, if diskette #2 is write protected Windows setup will report a "Write protection error". This is caused by the fact that when installing Windows 95, Windows will need to write the user name, company information, and Product Identification number on the second disk. Having the disk write protected will cause Windows to display the error message. Moving the write protect tab to the un-write protected position will allow Windows to write to the disk and proceed with the installation of the Windows system. ' Caution: This does however leave the disk open to virus infection. As with all systems the user should scan the system for viruses before and after installing any software to keep the system free of viruses.' |
