Subject: Installing a serial mouse on WinBook XP5 for Windows 95

  1. Exit all programs and turn the machine off
  2. Plug the mouse in to the serial port (9 pin trapezoidal port)
  3. Power the unit back on.
  4. If the XP5 does not detect the serial mouse automatically, then click on start, settings and control panel.
  5. Double click on Add New Hardware.
  6. Click on Next 3 times to allow windows to search for new hardware.
  7. When Windows is done searching for new hardware click on details to verify that it found the serial mouse.
  8. Restart the computer.
  9. The serial mouse should now be working.

If this does not work, try a second serial mouse and then call Technical support for additional assistance.
