NOTE: You, the customer, are solely responsible for data security. WinBook strongly recommends that you perform a backup of all personal data contained on your system prior to performing this procedure. Warning: WinBook will NOT be held responsible for any data loss incurred during this process.

In order to get PCMCIA support for DOS and Windows 3.1 on the XP5 Pro you must have the proper drivers. These drivers are available on our website, www.winbookcorp.com, under drivers and utilities for the WinBook FX (The XP5 Pro has the same controller). The file name is FX-PCM31.EXE.

Once the FX-PCM31 has been extracted, run the INSTALL.EXE program and follow the prompts. If you have problems please check the following:

  1. Is the PCMCIA card fully inserted?
  2. Does the PCMCIA card require any drivers? If so are they loading?
  3. Are the PCMCIA drivers loading correctly?

Sample CONFIG.SYS

device=c:\dos\emm386.exe noems x=d000-dfff
device=c:\dos\himem.sys
device=c:\cardsoft\sscirrus.exe
device=c:\cardsoft\cs.exe
device=c:\cardsoft\csalloc.exe
device=c:\cardsoft\cardid.exe
