Subject: Installling the Bustoaster SCSI PCMCIA Card on the WinBook XP in Windows 3.xx and DOS

CardSoft Installation:

  1. Turn the computer on
  2. When the display turns on, read the third line entry. It should read " V1.07". If it does not then you need to contact WinBook Technical Support for a Bios upgrade for your WinBook XP.
  3. At the C: prompt, insert the XP PCMCIA disk into the WinBook floppy drive
  4. Type a:\install.exe to begin the Cardsoft installation
  5. Press the spacebar when you see the SystemSoft Corporation displayed in the center of the screen.
  6. Select First Time install and press Enter.
  7. Select the Standard Installation and press Enter.
  8. Select Two PCMCIA Card Slots and press Enter.
  9. Press Enter to select Drive:C
  10. Press Enter to select c:\cardsoft as your installation folder. Then on the next screen press Enter again.
  11. Files are now being copied to the hard drive.
  12. When prompted to allow the installation to modify your config.sys, choose the default answer, yes, by pressing the Enter key. Then press Enter throughout the next several displayed screens. This will follow all the default settings.
  13. The installation process should finish. Press the enter key to go back to a dos prompt.
  14. Insert the New Media Corporation Bus Toaster SCSI card Installation Disk which was shipped with you Bus Toaster card into the floppy drive.
  15. Type a: and the press Enter at the c:\cardsoft prompt.
  16. At the A: type install and then press Enter.
  17. The next screen will ask you to confirm the installation of the Bus Toaster driver into the BT directory, press Enter to continue.
  18. It will prompt you to let it make changes to the config.sys, press Y for yes.
  19. Your config.sys should resemble the following, however it may be different due to you computer having different applications. This example is a core level config.sys which should be used as a guide to configuring for proper installation on your Bus Toaster. Those portions in bold print are necessary for the Bus toaster to function.

    DEVICEHIGH=C:\CARDSOFT\CSALLOC.EXE
    DEVICEHIGH=C:\CARDSOFT\CARDID.EXE
    DEVICE=C:\BT\BTASPI.SYS /D

  20. After you hear two tones R to reboot the system.
  21. The system will reboot and then prompt you to insert the Bus Toaster card.
  22. Insert the card and the unit will continue the boot process.
  23. If Windows is installed proceed with the installation of the "CorelSCSI! 2" disks (1-5) within Windows.
  24. This is done by choosing "Run" from the "File " menu and then typing "A:\setup".
  25. When prompted for installation type, select Full Install. Then follow the diskette installation prompts until the process is finished.
  26. After the installation is complete it will ask you to reboot the computer. Allow the system to reboot.
  27. Your Bus Toaster SCSI card is setup is now completed.
