Note: This WinBook Tech Article assumes that you have installed the Bus Toaster SCSI card using the WinBook Tech Article Installing the Bustoaster SCSI PCMCIA card on the WinBook XP in Windows 3.1x and Dos. This must be done prior to installing the Reno CD-ROM

Reno External CD-ROM Installation:

  1. Turn off and unplug your computer
  2. Your Reno CD-ROM comes with a small Battery Base that is referred to as a Docking Station. Align the connectors on the back of the CD-ROM drive to the connectors of the front of the docking station. Push the two components together until they latch.
  3. Connect the interface cable to the Bustoaster SCSI card
  4. Insert the Bustoaster card into the WinBook PCMCIA card slot.
  5. Connect the power adapter cable to docking station of the Reno CD-ROM
  6. Plug the square a/c power adapter transformer into a 115-volt AC outlet. (This is a normal household electrical outlet.)
  7. If you have a sound card in your WinBook you can connect the Reno CD-ROM line out to the audio line in on your WinBook. (The Audio line in is on the left side of your WinBook if you are using the WinBook XP or WinBook XP5.)
  8. Your Reno CD-ROM is now ready to use.

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • To access the Reno CD-ROM from a dos prompt you must have a data CD inserted in the CD-ROM drive, otherwise you will receive a ready fault error ready drive D.
  • In order to hear an audio CD using the Corel CD Audio Player in Windows you must use headphones plugged into the Reno CD-ROM or if you have a sound card, connect an audio cable from the audio line out of the Reno CD-ROM to the Audio Line In of the WinBook XP.
