Subject: Setting Up A Bootable Floppy Disk That Will Enable The 6X CD On The WinBook XP Docking Station

  1. To make the disk bootable put it in a computer and go to a dos prompt
  2. Type cd\ and then press Enter to bring you to a c:\> prompt.
  3. Type sys a: and then press Enter.
  4. The floppy disk is now bootable.
  5. Type in a:\ and then press Enter.
  6. Type edit config.sys and then press Enter.
  7. Type a:\ d011v109.sys /d:mscd000 /n:1 (Note: the 0 is a zero)
  8. Press the Alt+F keys simultaneously to enter the File Menu and save the file by pressing S.
  9. Exit by pressing ALT+F and then X to exit.
  10. Type edit autoexec.bat and then press Enter.
  11. Make sure the autoexec.bat has the following lines
    a:\mscdex.exe /d:mscsd000
    @echo off
    prompt $p$g
  12. Once those lines are in the Autoexec.bat Press the Alt+F keys simultaneously to enter the file menu and save the file by pressing S.
  13. Exit by pressing ALT+F and then X.
  14. Next you will need to copy Mscdex.Exe and D011v109.Sys (from the CD-ROM drivers disk provided with your docking station.) onto the bootable floppy disk. To do this, copy these files to a temporary directory then place your boot disk in drive A: and copy these files from the temporary directory to the boot disk.

NOTE: if you no longer have the driver disk provided with the Docking Station you can have it e-mailed or mailed to you by contacting technical support.
