  1. From the c:> prompt, type edit autoexec.bat and press Enter.
  2. Delete any reference to external mouse drivers, and remove the mouse directory from the path (if it is there.)
  3. Find the line that says: SET TEMP=C:\DOS. Directly beneath it add a line that says: SET MOUSE=C:\WINDOWS
  4. If there is a line that says: LH C:\DRIVERS\MTB\MTB.COM, Change it to LH C:\DRIVERS\MTB\MTB.COM C1 C2
  5. Save the file and exit
  6. Type cd\windows and then press Enter.
  7. Type setup.
  8. Make sure Mouse is set to Microsoft or IBM PS/2. If it is not then change it
  9. Type edit mouse.ini and press Enter.
  10. Find the line that says: MouseType=SERIAL2. Change it to MouseType=SERIAL1
  11. Save the file and exit.
  12. From the DOS prompt, type attrib +r mouse.ini and press Enter.
