NOTE: You, the customer, are solely responsible for data security. WinBook strongly recommends that you perform a backup of all personal data contained on your system prior to performing this procedure. Warning: WinBook will NOT be held responsible for any data loss incurred during this process.

This document describes the process for installing the PowerCinema software on a WinBook notebook. These instructions can be used when the hard drive is new, or when all existing partitions have been removed.

Note: To complete the recovery you will need the V series Recovery CD set (version FC1-245ii0) and the Linux PowerCinema CD.

  1. Start the computer with the WinBook V300-Series recovery CD disk 1 of 3 in the optical drive.
  2. When the message "Press 'R' to display system recovery options" appears on the screen, press the Ctrl and Backspace keys simultaneously to enter the Manufacturer Menu.
  3. Select option 7 to create a primary partition on the hard disk.
  4. Enter the size of the partition to be created.
    • The PowerCinema Linux partition requires an exact amount of hard drive space for a successful installation. It is important that exactly 502MB of hard drive space is made available. Subtract 502 from the maximum size available and enter this value.
    • Example; A 40GB hard drive shows a maximum of 38351. Subtract 502 and the final value entered is 37849. If the remaining partition is too large the PowerCinema application will not run. If it is too small the PowerCinema application will not install.
  5. After entering the value in step 4 above, the message "Press 'R' to display system recovery options" will appear again on the screen. Press the R key.
  6. Accept the license agreement and left click on OK to start the recovery process.
  7. When the recovery process finishes remove the restore CD from the drive and insert the Cyberlink PowerCinema Linux install CD. Left click on Restart the computer.
  8. When prompted type YES (all in CAPS), then press the Enter key to continue.
  9. The program will display four available /dev partitions. Select option 2 then press the Enter key to continue. (The partition will be automatically created and the multimedia application installed)
  10. When the installation has finished the program will prompt you to press the Enter key to power off the notebook. Press the Enter key.
