NOTE: You, the customer, are solely responsible for data security. WinBook strongly recommends that you perform a backup of all personal data contained on your system prior to performing this procedure. Warning: WinBook will NOT be held responsible for any data loss incurred during this process.

  1. Power down the system completely. You should unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery before removing the drive. Disconnect any attached peripherals. See Chapter 3 in your user’s manual for instructions on removing the battery from the WinBook notebook.
  2. Turn the system over. The front of the unit should be facing you.
  3. The hard disk drive (HDD) compartment is located in the lower left corner of the unit. There are two screws that secure the compartment cover to the unit. Remove the screws and set them in a safe place.

  4. Remove the single screw that attaches the rail kit to the drive bay. Once the screw is removed, slide the rail kit to the left side of the notebook to disengage the drive pins from the notebook header. Gently lift the rail kit up and out of the drive bay.

  5. The drive is attached to the rail kit by 4 screws. Remove the screws and set them in a safe place. Slide the drive out of the rail kit.

  6. Remove the new hard drive from its anti-static bag. You can use the same anti-static bag to store your old hard drive.
  7. Slide the drive into the rail kit. Secure the 4 screws that attach the drive to the rail kit.
  8. Slide the rail kit into place. Be certain that the screw hole on the rail kit aligns completely with the screw hole in the case.
  9. Secure the rail kit with the single screw.
  10. Replace the hard drive cover by laying it flat on the compartment opening and sliding it towards the center of the unit until the screw holes are aligned with the cover holes. Insert and tighten the 2 compartment cover screws.
  11. Finished!
