Installing memory under the keyboard of the WinBook M-Series computer

Take steps to properly ground yourself so that you do not cause damage to the components with static discharge.

  1. Disconnect the AC adapter
  2. Remove the battery pack. (Figure 1)
  3. Carefully turn the notebook over and lay it on a flat surface
  4. Slide both battery release levers to the unlock position. While holding the levers in the unlock position lift the battery up and out of the bay.

  5. Flip the notebook right side up, open the top cover, and insert a straightened paper clip into the button bezel release hole located near the power connector on the rear of the notebook. (Figure 2)

  6. While applying pressure to the paper clip, slide the bezel to the left. (Figure 3)

  7. Lift the bezel up and out of the way.
  8. Remove the 3 screws fastening the keyboard to the base unit. (Figure 4)

  9. Flip the keyboard backwards, gently laying it on the palm rest area. (Figure 5)
  10. Pay careful attention to the keyboard cable. There should be enough slack that the keyboard can lie flat without removing the cable from its connector. (Figure 5)
  11. Remove the 3 screws that secure the SO-DIMM cover. (Figure 5)

  12. To install a new module line up the module with the socket (Both the socket and module are keyed so that a module can only be inserted in one direction see figure 6 and 7). Press inwards and downwards until an audible click indicates that the module is seated.
