Installing memory in the primary socket on the WinBook M-Series notebook computer.

Take steps to properly ground yourself so that you do not cause damage to the components with static discharge.

  1. Disconnect the AC adapter
  2. Remove the battery pack. (Figure 1)
  3. Carefully turn the notebook over and lay it on a flat surface
  4. Slide both battery release levers to the unlock position. While holding the levers in the unlock position lift the battery up and out of the bay.

  5. Remove the 8 (eight) screws holding the Memory and PCI card cover in place. (Figure 2)
    This will expose the memory socket.

  6. To replace an existing module move the module retainers away from the module to allow it to “pop” up, then pull the module from the socket. (Figure 3)

  7. To insert a module line up the module with the socket (Both are keyed so that a module can only be inserted in one direction. See figures 4 and 5 ).

  8. Re-assemble the machine in the reverse order of these instructions and boot the unit into Windows in order to verify that the installed memory was correctly detected by the system.
