Removing the Hard Drive

1. Disconnect everything that is connected to the computer. Any printers, mice, keyboards, PCMCIA cards etc. Also disconnect the AC adapter and battery from the computer.
2. Turn the computer upside down so that the floppy drive is facing you.
3. On the lower right corner of the computer there is a panel with 2(two) screws in it. These are the 2(two) screws at the top of the panel. Remove those screws and keep them in a safe place.
4. At the top of the panel there is a recessed area. Pull up on the panel at that recessed. This will be a little hard to get out. If you need assistance DO NOT use anything metal. Use a quarter or a hard plastic piece.
5. The hard drive is being held in by a rail kit. To fully remove the hard drive from the rail kit there are 2(two) screws on each side of the hard drive. Once those screws are out the hard drive will slide out of the rail kit.
6. Finally there is a plastic connector on the end of the hard drive with the brass colored pins. Simply pull that plastic piece off without bending the pins it covers.

Reseating the Hard Drive

1. Follow Steps 1 through 4 above.
2. Once you have the hard drive lifted up. Push it back down into place. Make sure that it is on securely.
3. Place the 2(two) screws back into the panel and screw them down firmly.

Installing a New Hard Drive

1. Follow steps 1 through 6 on removing the hard drive.
2. Put the plastic connector that you removed in step 6, removing the hard drive, onto the new hard drive.
3. Place the hard drive in the rail kit with the pins facing out.
4. Replace the 4(screws) into the sides of the hard drive. Screw them down firmly.
5. Seat the hard drive back into the case so that the connector is facing away from you.
6. Push down on it firmly so that the hard drive seats correctly.
7. Put the 2(two) screws back into the panel and screw them down firmly.
