Removing the Hard Drive:

  1. Shut the computer off and disconnect the AC adapter. Disconnect any peripheral devices connected to the computer.
  2. Remove the battery from the bottom of the unit. Refer to Battery Removal technote WBTA00200078.
  3. Turn the computer so that the bottom is facing up and the ports on the back are facing away from you and the CD-Rom and the floppy drives are in front of you.
  4. Directly under the floppy drive there is a panel with 2 screws in it. It is just to the right of the battery. Remove those 2 screws from the plastic and remove the panel.


  5. Underneath is the hard drive. At the very front of the hard drive there is a rail that is bent outwards.
  6. Put your finger in there are slide the hard drive towards you. You will see that the hard drive has been removed from the connector in the back.


  7. Remove the hard drive from the computer by pulling straight up.

Installing the new Hard Drive:

  1. Remove the hard drive from all of the packaging.
  2. Line the posts up on the hard drive to the cut outs on the computer.
  3. Place the hard drive straight down into the hard drive compartment.
  4. Then, push the hard drive onto the connector into the back of the compartment.
  5. Place the cover back over the hard drive.
  6. Screw the screws back into the computer.
