Subject: How to Run Battery Calibration on the WinBook J4

If your computer has the audio controls on the front follow these instructions:

  1. With the battery in the unit, plug in the A/C power and let the battery fully charge. The battery charging light will switch from amber to green once the battery is fully charged. If the battery is not charging properly, you may begin the calibration after leaving the computer plugged in for 3 to 4 hours.
  2. Go to the CMOS setup program by tapping the F2 key at rate of about twice per second immediately after powering the unit.
  3. Use the Right Arrow key to go to the Exit section of the CMOS setup program.
  4. Use the Down arrow key, select Battery Calibration and press Enter.
  5. A Setup Confirmation window appears and asks, "Calibrate Your Battery Now?" Highlight the Yes with the arrow keys and press Enter.
  6. A window will appear saying, "Battery Calibration Program, Press Y to Start Calibration, N to Exit, to Shutdown The System." Press the Y key and calibration will begin.
  7. Attach the AC Adapter to the computer and allow it to charge to 100%. You can use the computer while it is charging, but it will charge to full capacity faster if the computer is powered off.

If your computer does not have the audio controls on the front follow these instructions:

  2. Go to the CMOS setup program by tapping the Del key at a rate of about twice per second immediately after powering the unit.
  3. Use the Down Arrow key to go to the Battery Calibration option on the BIOS setup screen, and hit Enter.
  4. A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to "Execute Battery Calibration" highlight the "Yes" with your arrow keys and press Enter.
  5. If the AC Adapter is attached, unplug it at this time.
  6. A progress bar will appear on the screen, showing the percentage of charge remaining.
  7. Once the calibration is finished, the computer will power off.
  8. Attach the AC Adapter to the computer and allow it to charge to 100%. You can use the computer while it is charging, but it will charge to full capacity faster if the computer is powered off.

The calibration process should be completed on a regular basis, every four to six weeks, to maintain the battery in optimal condition.
