Subject: Setting up a Hyperterminal connection to test the modem within Windows 2000 and Windows ME

  1. Click on Start | Programs | Accessories | Communications, and then click on Hyperterminal.
  2. It will then bring up a window asking you to enter a name and icon for the connection.
  3. Type in for the name Mci Mail and select the Mci Mail icon( the one that says MCI and has a icon of a phone )
  4. It will then bring up a window asking for the details of the number you want to dial.
  5. Leave the Country/region at United States, set the area code to 800, and then enter the phone number as 456-6245.
  6. Make sure the box that says "Connect Using" has the LT Win Modem in it.
  7. After you have verified that the phone number, and modem has been selected properly hit OK.
  8. Then click dial, after you hear the modems connecting you should get a message that says "Please enter your user name".
  9. If you get that message you know that the modem is fine.
  10. If you do not get the message, make a note of what happened and any error messages you may have received, and then call our Tech Support Dept.
